The Railtour Files - 2024

To answer the many questions (complaints even!) that I am receiving along the lines of "why have there there no Website updates since early 2024?"

First comment: this is not a true statement. There have been many updates made to the Website since January 2024, just not the addition of any real number of "current" tours...and that is for one main reason - I haven't been sent the gen to upload from anyone!

Up to the start of 2024 the processing of "current tours" were being handled by Nick Barlett. Nick, who has put in many countless hundreds of hours patiently collecting gen and creating the tour Pages over the past few years, has had to give up working on the Website due to family commitments. I am more than happy to continue adding "current" tours but I simply do not have the time to pull timings from a verified source and research locos used etc to the level of accuracy I hope this Website is known for. It is down to others to provide the accurate gen from which I can create the tour Page.

If this message fires you up to do some digging and emailing in gen however I have just one very important caution...
This Website is about QUALITY of gen, not QUANTITY.

Please do not simply "rip-off" gen from other sources and forward it. Doing that assumes the source is accurate. Please only send in VERIFIED gen as I do not want to perpetuate errors through YOUR lack of ensuring the gen you send me is accurate. When forwarding any info please state your source and, if you were not witness to/on the tour itself, what steps YOU have personally taken to ensure it is 100% factually correct.

So, in the meantime, I will continue my endless task of processing the information I have waiting attention. This is made up of;
a) several thousand emails, some of which contain gen from a number of tours
b) several large collections of railtour brochures that have been physically donated to me over the past few years
c) two large donations of hard-copy photographs covering a great number of charter trains from the 50's to present day
d) several donations of railtour tickets (amounting now to several hundred) which need sorting, scanning and uploading where new to the Website.

Finally, thank you for your understanding....especially if you have taken time to send in tour gen and I have not yet responded or uploaded it...I will get round to it eventually.
